Our Lincoln and South Lincolnshire Registered Manager, Lisa, has been nominated for “The Home Care Registered Manager.” - we are happy to announce she has won!

On Friday, 24th November 2023, our team attended The Great British Care Awards finals for East Midlands in Nottingham. Bluebird Care Lincoln and South Lincolnshire's Registered Manager, Lisa Bidwell, had been nominated for the Great British Care Awards for the "The Home Care Registered Manager." - and she won.

Lisa Bidwell, Registered Care Manager for Bluebird Care Lincoln & South Lincolnshire

The award is given to the Registered Home Care Manager, who has demonstrated a high level of expertise and exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running a home care business. A Manager who continues to show vision in developing person-centred care and supporting staff to meet the ever-changing needs of the service users.

Lisa's journey with Bluebird Care started in July 2019 as a care assistant before being promoted to Care Supervisor in November 2019; in October 2021, she was promoted to Assistant Manager before becoming our Registered Care Manager in March 2022. Lisa is a valued team member with a wealth of experience in the care industry, working on and off for 26 years, thus helping her go above and beyond for our customers, carers, and office team. It has been a pleasure to watch Lisa's development through her time at Bluebird Care from 2019 till now. She has an immense passion for the care industry, and it is incredible to see that reflected in her work ethic and passed on not only to her care team but also to the office team.

Her nomination came from her office team, who stated . . . we as a team nominated Lisa for this award for several reasons that make her the great manager that she is. Lisa has a positive, can-do attitude in any situation. This is something she has passed down to all her team members. She believes in sharing her knowledge and nurturing her team along with promoting progression for each team member. The majority of our supervisors started within the company as care assistants and followed a career pathway supported by Lisa. Lisa has guided the team through numerous different situations, some of which were challenging. Throughout raising any concerns with other professionals as part of multi-agency working, Lisa has always been on hand to support this. Lisa's knowledge is supported by her passion for giving the best standard of care and support to all individuals we care for, whatever their needs. Lisa will begin complex care packages or show challenging behaviour without a second thought. We have had numerous customers start care or support with us that other care companies have refused due to the complexity. These support packages have been successful, and they have finally received the support they need. Lisa has shown dedication in all of her roles at Bluebird Care. Still, as the registered manager, that commitment is clearly demonstrated in the time, effort, and support she gives to her team members and customers. She will always dedicate time to listen to everyone's opinion and strives to make decisions based on these, with everyone's best interests considered. As a team, we all feel proud to have Lisa as our registered manager, and we think she deserves the National Award.

Sitting down with Victoria, our director, who attended the event with Lisa and a few team members, she said that finding out Lisa had been nominated and had become a finalist was really exciting; Lisa is making us all really proud of her achievements. At the event, awaiting the regional winner's announcement was intense and suspenseful. Upon hearing Lisa's name being announced, our table erupted with cheers becoming very loud. It was a great atmosphere.

After speaking with Lisa, it is clear that she is very dedicated to her team, her work, and her customers, meaning all she wanted to do was "crack on and get back to work."

Our supervisor, Rachel, for our Boston area, who attended the event, stated that when Lisa returned to the table after collecting her award, her only words were, "I couldn't do it without my team."

Reflecting on the occasion, Victoria said, "Overall, we're really proud of Lisa. She's such a humble person, and it's great to see her rewarded for all her hard work."

On Monday, the results were posted by the Great British Care Awards, stating that the reason behind Lisa winning the regional award was, "Lisa demonstrates an immense passion for crafting meaningful details and actively engages in equine therapy to contribute towards holistic improvement."

We are incredibly proud of Lisa for winning the regional finals as a team. It's great to see her being given recognition for all the hard work she has put into the business over the last 8 months as our Registered Manager. Fingers crossed for the National Finals in Birmingham in March next year. Keep up your great work, Lisa!
