Home Care Provider Joins Community in Armed Forces Day Celebrations

Bluebird Care North East Lincolnshire have raised £100 for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association charity (the SSAFA) during an Armed Forces Day parade in Cleethorpes.

Armed Forces Day, formerly known as Veterans Day, is an annual occasion that gives people an opportunity to show their support to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops, to service families, veterans, and cadets.

Having previously attended the event on numerous occasions, this year was no different as 20 team members and one customer of the leading local home care provider, who is rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the highest award available in the industry, came together with others in the community for the parade.

Taking place in the seaside town, Bluebird Care North East Lincolnshire were joined by 40 floats and a swell of people as they made their way through Cleethorpes to celebrate and raise money for the UK’s incredible armed services.

Speaking after the event, Michael Bryce, Wellbeing and Engagement Officer at Bluebird Care North East Lincolnshire, said:

“This event was an amazing experience. It was so great to see the community come together and celebrate those that have served in our armed forces.”

Dennis Atkinson, Facilities Manager at the home care provider, added:

“The carnival was a good way to allow a wheelchair-using customer to attend the parade. The look on his face was a picture. He had never done anything like this. His dad followed us in his wheelchair access van and commented that it was nice to see his son enjoying the event.”
