We are celebrating International Women's Day 2024 by showcasing our new women-led director team!
We are celebrating International Women’s Day by showcasing our women-led director team at Bluebird Care NFKW, Cambridge, Bedford & Huntingdon.
We were delighted to announce in January 2024 three new director roles which have been created following the expansion of our operating areas. The expansion of the director team means that we now have dedicated resources to devote to improving the quality of our care and support services.
Our director team is comprised of passionate and dedicated women who all believe in making a difference in other people’s lives and changing the way care and support is perceived and delivered in our local areas.
Introducing our Principal Director, Carolyn Dailey, who alongside her husband Keith are Franchise Owners of Bluebird Care NFKW, Cambridge, Bedford & Huntingdon:
Carolyn is passionate about providing the highest level of care and support in our local areas and she is as equally as passionate about providing career and development opportunities to my teams. Carolyn has personally mentored members of the team to progress their careers and was delighted to have recently promoted three members of the senior team to new director roles.
Our aim is to bring excellent service and care for customers in their own home in our local areas. Before stepping into a career providing care services Carolyn trained to be an optician at the City & Islington College and later moved into retailing optics. Carolyn talks about her passion for providing care in your home:

Introducing Heather Porter, Managing Director and Registered Manager for Bluebird Care NFKW, Cambridge, Bedford & Huntingdon.
Heather joined the Bluebird Care Newmarket and Fenland team, as a Care Assistant, in March 2014. During her career with the company, she has progressed from working as a Care Assistant, to Team Leader and then joined the Management Team where she was later promoted to Care Director.
In January 2024 following the acquisition of Bluebird Care Huntingdon, Heather was promoted to Managing Director of our new women led director team. Heather is involved with overseeing the day-to-day running of each of our businesses.
Heather is heavily involved with the Skills Assessment programme that we run for new members of the care team, and has completed her Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. This has allowed Heather to create and deliver our Skills Assessment programme successfully to enable and support our care team to complete their roles when with our customers. Alongside this Heather has also completed a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, which has given her a wider knowledge of managing our senior team within their own individual roles and overseeing the day-to-day running of the business more confidently.
Heather said about her time so far with Bluebird Care:
My passion lies in making a difference to the way people perceive and receive home care and ensuring that their experience is a positive and happy one. Throughout my career at Bluebird Care I have received constant and professional guidance from my directors and have used this to further my confidence and competence. I feel I have more to give and am always looking and working on ways to enhance my position within the company. I will continue to work hard at ensuring we at Bluebird Care provide our customers with the best possible individual care experience as possible and look forward to continuing this into the future.
Introducing Danni Durrant, Coordinating Director for Bluebird Care NFKW, Cambridge, Bedford & Huntingdon;
Danni has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for the over 12 years, working in a wide variety of roles, Danni started out her journey as a support worker working daily with customers and ensuring their individual needs are met. She went on to become a lead supervisor carrying out first initial meetings with customers and their risk assessments while continuing to work with the customers. Danni furthered her knowledge and stepped into the role of Care Coordinator which was a role she felt very passionate about and found rewarding.
Danni started her Bluebird Care career journey in November 2018, and she said:
I was made to feel very welcome within the team. From the minute I first walked through the door I knew this was a journey I wanted to experience and work within. The Directors, Carolyn and Keith Dailey allowed me to have ideas and explore those ideas encouraging me to progress within my role of Care Coordinator to Lead Coordinator. Managing the coordinating team they have allowed me to grow and be confident within the field I work in making me feel confident within my job role giving me the feeling of being a part of the Bluebird Care Family. I have been given the opportunity to further progress my career within Bluebird Care and I am now Care Coordinating Director.
Alongside this, Danni has completed a QCF level 5 in Leadership and Management, providing her with further knowledge and skills to manage the coordinating team within their job roles as well as overseeing the day to day needs of the business more confidently.
I thrive knowing each day I am ensuring the standard of care we deliver enables our customers to stay in their own homes and get the standard of professionalism they deserve. I feel so proud to be able to work within such a great team knowing the differences we make and look forward to progressing my career and helping others progress their career. I look forward to the future and being a part of such a fantastic team.
Introducing Jo Bowman, our new Operations Director;
Jo has spent her entire career since leaving school in the health and social care sector, spending time in residential care and independent living services before coming to work for Bluebird Care.
Jo joined Bluebird Care in October 2016 as a Care Coordinator. She has since been promoted to Lead Coordinator and then Customer Experience Manager. Then in January 2024 Jo was offered the opportunity to become a director and became our new Operations Director.
I am excited to be part of such a great team and am looking forward to progressing in my career with Bluebird Care. I believe in treating everyone with the dignity and respect they deserve and developing highly personalised services that meet their needs and enables them to remain living at home independently for as long as possible.
Introducing Katie Manson, our New Business Development Director;
Katie has worked in the health and social care sector for over 5 years. She has completed a level 3 NVQ in Health and Social care and is working towards her Level 5 in Leadership and Management.
Katie started her career as a Care Assistant, working with our customer in their local community and in 2016 joined Bluebird Care as a Care Coordinator.
I believe our customers should get the most out of life while remaining in their own home and maintaining their independence. Bluebird Care provides a high-quality level of care to make this possible. I have now been given a fantastic opportunity to progress my career as a Business Development Director. I felt very welcome by all the team when I first joined the management tea, and I am looking forward to developing my career further within Bluebird Care.
Introducing Virginia Zahr, our new Quality Director;
Virginia started her career in Health & Social Care in 2014 as a Support Worker. She has experience working across residential care settings supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, as well as supporting older people.
In 2019 Viriginia joined Bluebird Care as a Trainee Care Coordinator.
She said,
I felt welcomed and was supported in a variety of tasks in order to complete my job role and get to know the business. Over the years I experienced customer appreciation, employees progressing and the business growing. I have continually learned various aspects of the business and have enjoyed supporting our customers and care team in the community.
During her time so far with Bluebird Care, Virginia has a NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration and have more recently worked as our Office Coordinator which she happily embraced. Viriginia is looking forward making a difference with her new Quality Director role and her future with Bluebird Care.
