Last week, Debbie Harrison (Bluebird Care Redbridge Manger) and Lucy McCormack (Regional Business Consultant) attended the Skills for Care "Recruiting for Values" conference, click read more to learn more about the day and also the importance of values.

Skills for Care, supports adult social care employers to deliver what the people they support need and what commissioners and regulators expect. They do this by helping employers get the best from their most valuable resource - their people.
On Wednesday 7th March, Skills for Care held a conference to teach care providers the importance of work force values and culture and spoke of how establishing a strong set of values can be a useful recruitment tool.

From this insightful comfrence we learnt of the benefits of valued based recruitment.
So firstly, what is values based recruitment and retention?
Values based recruitment and retention is about finding and keeping people who have the right atitude to work in care and know what it means to provide high quality care.

What do the facts and figures say about values based recruitment?
From the most recent survey, 72% of companies in the social care sector using a values based approach to recruitment agreed that staff recruited for values performed better than those recruited using traditional methods and also that 62% of staff recruited for values have lower rates of sickness and absence.
If staff retention rates increase, and sickness rates reduce we will be able to; provide a higher quality service (as carers will gain greater eperience), provide continuity of care to our customers and also invest in new perks and training methods for our carers.

As a care company we are always looking to expand our team and ensure current staff feel valued and therefore stay with us.
To ensure staff feel valued we offer the following benefits; Above average rates of pay, Paid training, Paid travel time, Paid milage, NHS top up scheme, enhanced pension rates, and much more!
We are looking forward to implementing some of the new ideas that where put forward by the Skills for Care team, in the hope that this will lead to a further increase in employee satisfaction and thus recruitment and retention.
