Published: 28/02/2023

Celebrating the dedication and hard work of our care teams across Mid-Essex, Essex West, Southend & Rochford, Redbridge, Epping & Harlow....

Our awards ceremony was held at the Great Baddow Community Centre, in Chelmsford on 15th February. Over 80 Care Assistants joined the celebrations with their families, along with Directors and family team Tracey, Kevin and Lucy McCormack. The event featured a finger buffet, freshly delivered pizza, and non-alcoholic bucks fizz as a welcome drink, followed by tea and coffee.

Five outstanding carers went home with the top awards, winning a personalised engraved glass trophy, while another six were highly commended for their dedication . Aimee Burt, Care Assistant at Bluebird Care Mid-Essex was the Unsung Hero of the Year for always going above and beyond to put a smile on the faces of the people she supports and always thinking of the little things that can make a difference to somebody’s day, week or even life.

Team Member of the Year Jo Curd was recognised for her support not just for her customers but for everyone in the Bluebird Care Essex West team. As Care Supervisor, Jo makes sure that everyone feels part of the Bluebird Care family, and keeps the day-to-day running of the team smooth. Registered Manager of the Year Clem Towlson is also part of the Essex West team, and was nominated as a great leader by her team for being a constant source of support and calm.

Fiona Bayiga Care Assistant in Bluebird Care Mid-Essex was nominated by her teammates as the county’s Carer of the Year for her commitment to best practice, and consistently delivering outstanding care to her customers. Meanwhile, the top prize for Live-in Carer of the Year went to Joan Murray Campbell who works across all Bluebird Care offices in the area, for her round-the-clock dedication to Bluebird Care’s values of dignity and respect.

Theresa Hayles, Care Assistant Redbridge, Epping & Harlow 'Unsung Hero' runner-up, said, "It was so nice to meet my fellow Bluebird Care teams, as we don’t get many opportunities to see each other, and especially to be able to have a little dance on the dancefloor – I was so proud of my team to get this recognition. Care for us is not a nine to five job, it is a way of life, and so to be able to come together and celebrate one another is special."

Although only five prizes were able to be given out on the day, the event was a celebration of all the hundreds of dedicated team members across the Bluebird Care offices, whose commitment to their customers has led to all four services being rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by the independent regulators the CQC.
