Bluebird Care Slough, S. Bucks & S. Wycombe are supporting Carers Rights Day 2015 in aid of Carers UK on Friday 20 November.

Each year Carers Rights Day takes place to raise awareness of the needs of carers with the public, helping us to realise our vision of a society that respects, supports and values carers.

According to Carers UK, 1 in 8 adults (around 6.5 million people) in the UK are carers. Every day another 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility – that equals over 2 million people each year. By 2037, it’s expected that the number of carers will increase to 9 million.

The aim of Carers Rights Day is to bring organisations across the UK together to help carers in their local community know their rights and let them know how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

Last year over 1,000 carers’ support groups, carers’ organisations, local authorities, GP surgeries, hospitals, businesses and others got involved reaching thousands of carers with information and advice.

We are holding a special coffee morning on Friday 20 November to celebrate Carer’s Rights Day, with all proceeds being donated to Carers UK. Our coffee morning will be held from 10am to 12 noon at our Burnham office. There will be lots of tea, coffee, cake and biscuits on offer as well as many of our friendly, helpful and knowledgeable care professionals on hand to answer any questions you may have. All are welcome and we hope that you can join us for a cuppa and a slice of cake!

Bluebird Care care manager Nicky Beadle said:

“Finding out what help is available can be a daunting and confusing task and we often point families in the right direction to obtain the support they are entitled to. On November 20, we’ll be handing out free information packs with the latest information and guidance for carers.

Often it can be helpful to talk to someone independent. Caring for a loved one isn’t an easy task, it can, at times, be difficult, tiring and sometimes isolating. There is help available, both in terms of benefits and support from the NHS, so it’s important for carers to be aware of these.”
