Slough’s Black Park became a riot of colour on March 5 as around 400 runners, including a team from Bluebird Care, took part in the Stroke Association’s Resolution Run.

The organisation was represented by its team of eight staff, Erno Hovath, Luis Albelda, Gabi Racan and Katy Cresswell, who completed the event’s 10k run, with Virginia Montalban, Vedrana Bosnjak, Annie Greenfield and Roxy Firulete running the 5k.

Deputy care manager Katy Cresswell put the team together due to the high number of people with strokes that the organisation cares for. Many of the donations came from Bluebird Care’s staff and 200 customers.

Katy said: “As care providers, we see first-hand the devastating effects that strokes can have on people and their lives and we wanted to raise money to support such a worthwhile cause. It’s been great to take part as a team and to know that all the money raised will help go towards further research and treatment.”

There are over 900,000 stroke survivors in England, of those, 300,000 are living with moderate to severe disability as a result of strokes; and it remains the largest cause of disability in England.

The Stroke Association campaigns to improve stroke care and supports people to make the best possible recovery. They fund research into new treatments and ways to prevent strokes.
