Christmas came early for older people from the Slough, South Bucks and South Wycombe areas when we threw our annual festive Afternoon Tea Party.

More than 100 of our customers and their families attended the Christmas party at The Grovefield House Hotel on December 21. It also featured musicians ‘All That Jazz’, who had everyone singing along to Christmas favourites, before pitting their wits in a fun quiz, which was expertly delivered by local quizmaster Tony Ireland.

They enjoyed afternoon tea in the beautiful surroundings of the Burnham hotel, including Christmas crackers and party hats and we provided transport for some of our customers to ensure they didn’t miss out on the event.

Bluebird Care Director Anne Inglis said, “For many of our customers, the party is one of the highlights of their year and we love to celebrate this special time of year with them. Many older people become isolated and so community events like this are important.

“Many people live alone and Christmas can be a difficult and lonely time. We urge people to support any older neighbours, friends and family during the festive period by stopping for a chat or visiting. It can make all the difference.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who gave their time and made the day so special for our customers.  Huge thanks go to The Grovefield House Hotel, members of ‘All That Jazz’ and our staff.”
