Freya's Journey

In acknowledgement of National Career Development Month, we shine a spotlight on Freya, one of our amazing BANES Bluebirds.

Beginning her career as a Nursery Assistant, Freya completed her Level 2 and Level 3 Childcare qualifications - but her ambition didn't stop there, and eventually she travelled abroad to work as a childcare professional in Italy.

When her adventures on the continent concluded, she returned to Bath and joined a local care company. Sadly, Freya's aspirations for professional growth were met with limited career development opportunities. Undeterred, she began writing a new chapter with CQC Outstanding Bluebird Care and her ambitions are flourishing.

Freya instantly recognised an ingrained culture of learning and development where strengths are identified and growth is encouraged. Instantly presented with progression opportunities, Freya became an Assistant Care Manager and found herself on a clear path to her goals.

Our Registered Manager Claire, notes: "Freya’s previous job didn't recognise her abilities; their shortsightedness is our gain! Her drive to do her best for our customers, her willingness to develop and learn... these will support her career ambitions as Bluebird. We are fully supporting and paying for her Health & Social Care NVQ Level 4, something her previous company never did!"

Freya is working toward her Level 4 NVQ which is fully funded by Bluebird Care, complete with direct mentoring from Claire. In Freya's words:

"As a BANES Bluebird, there is always room for progression... you're listened to, heard, and treated as an individual - you're not just a number, you're a person... your ability and ambitions matter!"
