Joining as a Bluebird Care Assistant just weeks before the pandemic, Georgia's passion for learning and development has resulted in a meteoric rise through our ranks...

Assistant Care Manager Georgia chuckles when asked when she joined the Bluebird Care work family. "It was January 2020, 8 weeks before the pandemic!"

"I started as a Care Assistant in our rural areas. This was my first job in care and it was very intense learning the ropes during a global pandemic... a true baptism of fire."

Georgia continues, "Whilst the challenges of caring during a pandemic were immense as the goal posts were changing every day, it was incredible to be able to offer reassurance and comfort to our very isolated customers. For the majority of our customers, their Care Assistants were the only visitors they'd have for weeks and months on end. I made a concerted effort to carve out special time just to chat and have a cup of tea."

Fast forward 18 months and Georgia was promoted to Field Care Supervisor. "I went through the interview process and cracked straight on with my Level 3 which I am finishing this month. I have a great sense of accomplishment."

Georgia says of the process:

"I am passionate about care; I want to learn as much as I can so I can go far. The senior team have truly supported me to achieve my NVQ. Put yourself forward for a qualification, you won't regret it and it will propel your career forward!"

Georgia adds, "I was promoted again in September to Assistant Care Manager - my first ever office role!"

"It was a shock to the system, having never worked in an office before, but the team - especially Cameo - have been fantastic. I have so much respect for Cameo, she is an amazing Care Manager."

What does her role entail? "I check in on our customers, conduct six month reviews, and assess new customers - creating their care plans. You have to be compassionate, empathetic, keen to manage people and work with our customers to achieve their best outcomes."

At home, Georgia loves to spend time with her family and friends; a Friday night Chinese takeaway is a favourite treat!
