Bluebird Care Wiltshire North opened a new office in Hathaway Medical Centre, the largest in Chippenham, as part of an ambitious expansion of their home care services.

Bluebird Care Wiltshire North opened a new office in July 2022 in Hathaway Medical Centre, the largest in Chippenham, as part of an ambitious expansion of our home care services. To mark the occasion, we arranged for our Care Professionals team to take part in Training 2 CARE’s state-of-the-art Mobile Dementia Simulator – known as the ‘Dementia Bus’.

The Dementia Bus provided 38 people from Bluebird Care and Hathaway Medical Centre with a first-hand experience of the realities people living with dementia face.

As part of the experience, participants used thick mittens to reduce their ability to perform tasks or hold items and wore headphones and glasses with lenses that impaired their vision, all while in a dark room with disorientating lighting. Participants also wore spiked insoles in their shoes to cause pins and needles, adding to the immersive experience.

Equipped with this innovative training and new office, Bluebird Care Wiltshire North are now able to reach more customers throughout the local community to deliver their home care services. In Chippenham and its surrounding villages, as Care Professionals in the local Chippenham area, we can care for customers in the comfort of their own homes, providing a variety of tailored care services, from personal care, companionship, and trips into the community, right up to 24-hour Live-in Care.

We are delighted to be able to expand our territory towards the north of Wiltshire. To open an office in Hathaway Medical Centre is an amazing opportunity to help facilitate the joint training of team members and working together for the benefit of the community.

Claire Kenyon, a Care Professional at Bluebird Care Wiltshire North who took part in the Dementia Bus experience, said:

“With more people in the community living with dementia than ever, we believe it’s important that those who care for them have a real understanding of their daily experiences. The Training 2 Care course did just this, giving us an immersive experience of the realities people living with dementia face.

“The Dementia Bus was a fantastic way to mark the opening of our new office in North Wiltshire and the entire team is looking forward to working with greater numbers of local people to help them live their lives with greater independence at home.”
