This month Bluebird Care Southend and Rochford worked in partnership with The Marmalade Trust to support Loneliness Awareness Week 2023.
At Bluebird Care Southend & Rochford, we provide high-quality Homecare and Live in Care services to help older people and other vulnerable adults to live independent lives within the safety and comfort of their own homes.
We keep you in control and provide you with the home care services and support you want, where and when you want it. It's your life and your care, so it must be your way.
The dedicated team at Bluebird Care Southend & Rochford actively participates in awareness events in the local community. June was the ‘Loneliness Awareness Week’ and we supported this by organising a variety of events. As part of Loneliness Awareness Week, Kellie Woodcraft, the registered manager and her team decided to raise funds for charity for The Marmalade Trust. They are a leading loneliness charity for all ages and the only charity in the world with a specific focus on raising awareness about loneliness.
Kellie and her team, opened the office to the local community to raise awareness for Loneliness Awareness Week, inviting the local community in for a cuppa and a chat. A table was put out the front of the office, and tea, coffee, and a selection of biscuits were offered to those who came down. This gathering provided an excellent opportunity to network and show support for those who greatly benefited from a simple cup of tea and a chat.
On Saturday 24th June, Kellie and her team participated in the ‘Makers Market’, an event organised by ‘Big Up Southend’ held on the last Saturday of each month in the Victoria shopping centre in Southend. They set up a fundraising stall featuring donated items that had been created and made by their very own customers and staff from across their 5 offices, Southend, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Redbridge and Epping and Harlow. This included hand-crafted paintings, poetry books, knitted, crochet and sewing items all for the stall. This along with the donations from local businesses and the local knitting club made for a very successful event.
Kellie Woodcraft - Bluebird Care Southend & Rochford Registered Manager said;
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that donated these items, and because of this generosity we had a very successful day and raised £147 for The Marmalade Trust, which was amazing!!
With some donated items remaining, Kellie and her team have decided to hold another open-door event for our local community in Southend, to hopefully raise more money for Marmalade Trust and to also continue to connect and support those who may be living with loneliness. Watch out for the date on our social media pages. If you are organising an event that you think we may be able to take part in, please send us a message or give us a call.
