What a fun time this was!

In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on the 2nd June, Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire put on a typically British afternoon tea.

The party, held at Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church, brought team members, customers, family, and friends together with around 30 Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire customers in attendance.

The Jubilee party was a huge success, with several team members donning themed outfits for the occasion, including Director of Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire, Jack Whitfield, who wore a Footman’s outfit, and accompanied one of the Bluebird Care Coordinators dressed as Her Majesty, with cake, tea, and sandwich distribution. There was lovely feeling throughout the afternoon, with music ranging from the iconic Vera Lynn to more contemporary classics which only added to the party atmosphere and made the event extra special for everybody in attendance.

There was added cause for celebration with the party also marking one of the first times everybody connected to Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire have been able to come since the start of the pandemic.

Ms Browne, a customer of Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire, said: “I have spent the last two years pretty much in my chair at home – the only company I have had has been the wonderful Care Assistants at Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire who helped keep my spirits up during these lonely times. Today was just glorious – a chance to see some old friends and enjoy company and laughter again.”

Jack Whitfield, Director of Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire, said: “It has been such a delight to get back to one of our favourite pastimes – putting on parties for our customers. We haven't been able to do this for two years because of the pandemic, and hearing the customer's reactions, I think we should be making up for lost time with more parties than usual from now on. Tackling isolation is such an important part of improving people's wellbeing, and what better way to do it than a big get-together with lots of chatting, music, and cakes to enjoy with everybody else.”
