YOUR QUESTIONS

What does a live-in carer do?

A live-in carer will move in to your home with you, and is on hand 24 hours a day to meet all of your individual needs. The carer can help with personal care, medication, household tasks, meal preparation, outings and complex care.

What does a live-in carer not do?

A carer is not able to assist with tasks that require a medical professional, such as administering injections or changing dressings on open wounds.  Also, DIY tasks cannot be completed by a live-in carer.

Do live-in carers need their own room?

Yes, the carer will need their own bedroom with a single or double bed, wardrobe or chest of drawers and a closable door for privacy.

Can I have a choice of either a male or female live- in carer?

Yes, you can state if you have a gender preference. All of our carers are highly trained professionals and will deliver all aspects of personal care with the utmost dignity and respect for your privacy.

When do live-in carers take time off and have breaks?

To ensure our carers are delivering the very best care, taking time off, including regular breaks, are crucial for their wellbeing. Therefore, all live-in carers are entitled to 14 hours of breaks throughout the working week, this can be taken as two hours a day or a few afternoons a week. Time off is taken around times that suit the customer’s needs, and we will work with you to ensure you either have an alternative carer or family help when your live-in carer is off.

How do I know we’ll get on?

We will discuss with you your preferences, personality type, interests and hobbies before matching you with a compatible and friendly carer.

How much does live-in care cost?

It is difficult to give a set cost for live-in care until we know what your needs and requirements are. The cost will depend on a number of factors and we are happy to come and discuss this with you in more detail. Overall, live-in care can be a more economical and financial advantage over the costs of paying for residential care home accommodation.
