Home for Christmas: Joyce's Heartwarming Return with the Support of Live-In Care

We're super proud of supporting Joyce in her return to home after an unfortunate fall before Christmas!

At Bluebird Care, we have the honour of making a positive impact on people's lives by delivering high-quality care and support. Our goal is to empower individuals to stay in the comfort of their own homes and communities. Joyce, a valued Bluebird Care customer, faced the challenge of living alone at home following the passing of her beloved husband a few years ago.

After a regrettable fall at home, Joyce spent three months recovering in the hospital. Upon her readiness for discharge, the hospital team recommended a care home due to safety concerns about her living alone. Despite having no immediate family or children for support, Joyce was determined to return to her home of 50 years, surrounded by familiar faces and her cherished local community.

In her distress, Joyce confided in a friend who reached out to us at Bluebird Care for guidance on available options, emphasising the importance of ensuring her safe return home. Following a conversation with our Live-In Care Manager, Liz, Joyce met with Tracey, our Live-In Care Supervisor, at the hospital to explore the possibility of returning home with live-in care.

Unfamiliar with the concept of live-in care, Joyce was enlightened about its benefits and was reassured that she could stay in her home without the need for a care home. Choosing live-in care as the ideal solution, Joyce was overjoyed with the possibility of maintaining her residence of 50 years, avoiding the necessity of selling her cherished home and possessions.

Since returning home with her dedicated Live-in Care Worker, Joyce has actively participated in numerous events and activities, especially during the festive period. The flexibility of live-in care allows her to meet friends at her convenience, providing a stark contrast to the structured routine of a care home. Witnessing a significant improvement in both her physical and emotional well-being has been truly heartening.

Joyce's journey is just one among many, highlighting the profound impact of seemingly simple choices. At Bluebird Care, we firmly believe that there's truly no place like home, a sentiment we are confident Joyce shares wholeheartedly.
