Spotlight interview with our new Team Manager - Cathy

I’m a mum to 2 teenagers, who keep me busy!

In my spare time I enjoy fundraising for local charities through sponsored walks. I also enjoy reading – when I get a spare few minutes. In the spring/summer, I enjoy spending my time gardening.

I started working for Bluebird Care in April 2022, I have been here for 8 months.

My role is Team Manager, this is a new role to me as I have just been promoted.

My role involves supporting the care team and supervisor teams in the community. I complete spot checks and supervisions with the care team, customer reviews and supporting the care team with customers who have complex needs. I work both in the community and in the office.

I have worked in care for nearly 30 years, in various settings. I have also previously worked as an assessor. I started working in care because it seemed like a career I would be good at and enjoy – it turns out I was right! I love working in care and providing support to my team as well as our customers.

The training Bluebird Care provided was excellent, the training programme is one of the best I have undertaken compared to other training I have completed in the past. I found it very comprehensive, without feeling overwhelmed with information.

There is no day that is the same in this job, and I really enjoy doing different tasks every day.

I work out in the community with customers, completing care visits, supporting the care team with customers who have complex care needs, working in the office and as part of the office support team.

I really enjoy meeting people and building relationships with our customers and staff team alike, this role couldn’t be better for me!

I really enjoy working for Bluebird Care. The way that we complete care plans for customers is excellent and different from the way I have worked previously. The support from the office/management team is also really great. They are a great team to work with, and I have settled into the office quickly. I really enjoy working on both sides of the business and getting to know the team is great.

If I wasn’t working at Bluebird Care I would probably still be working from home – in a job that had run its course. I was ready for a change and this opportunity was perfect me. I think if I wasn’t working for Bluebird Care I would still be working in care, in some way or another.

I really enjoy working for Bluebird Care and I would recommend Bluebird Care to my friends and family – in fact I already have! My mum can’t wait to become a customer!
