1200 Dementia friends and counting!

At Bluebird Care, we’re so proud of Robert Wallace, our Dementia Friends Ambassador, who has inspired 1,200 Dementia Friends in Colchester and beyond! Robert’s journey began when he saw the impact of dementia first-hand through his close friend Melvyn, our director, whose father was diagnosed with dementia years ago.

Encouraged by Melvyn, Robert became a Dementia Friends Champion in 2014. Since 2014, Robert’s passion has driven him to deliver engaging sessions to all corners of our community—schools, hospitals, libraries, and more. His sessions, featuring relatable methods like the bookcase analogy, make understanding dementia accessible and impactful.

Even during Covid, Robert’s dedication didn’t fade. Now back as an official Ambassador, he’s continuing his mission to raise awareness and create a more dementia-friendly world, one session at a time.
