Local home care provider, Bluebird Care Westminster and City of London, has been hailed as a 'saving grace' by a well-known Musician, Professor Ian Hall, as he makes a 'miracle' recovery.
In November 2019, Professor Ian Hall was receiving end-of-life support after collapsing in a London bookshop; he had been diagnosed with kidney failure and lung damage.
After beginning his rehabilitation journey with Bluebird Care Westminster & City of London, Professor Hall began accepting life-changing treatments and support from his carer. Four months later, Professor Hall was discharged from his end-of-life support with St John's Hospice after making great progress.
In February 2020, Professor Hall, 81 years of age, contracted COVID-19 and was placed in intensive care for six weeks.
Miguel, a Care Manager at Bluebird Care Westminster & City of London, said:
"When the hospital decided to transfer him to the intensive care ward, it was awful because we had no contact with him.
"I had grown close to Professor Hall and I felt a responsibility to make sure he was all right."
Professor Hall was discharged from the hospital on April 4th, 2020, and he returned home to a deep cleaned home and fresh food in his fridge, organised by Care Manager Miguel. His care plan was immediately updated, ready for his carers to resume care.
Professor Hall spent his life as a professional organist and played all over the world in the USA, Europe and Asia and taught music at the Bloomsbury International Society. His love for music even helped him become an unofficial Global Ambassador for the United Nations where he met Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Tony Blair, Dr Martin Luther King and Desmond Tutu to name a few.
Recently, Professor Ian Hall was unfortunately hit by a double-decker bus while crossing a busy Oxford Street in London. The crash left Professor Hall with a shattered hip, and once again, he began his recovery process, with Miguel ensuring that he was on hand to care for Professor Hall.
Professor Ian Hall said:
“Bluebird Care Westminster & City of London has been my saving grace. They have done the best job; it's remarkable. I feel like I have a fresh life, I have fresh courage, and it's all because of the carers. It feels like a resurrection. Bluebird Care Westminster & City of London have my eternal love, and I am so grateful."
