We are absolutely delighted to announce the opening of our brand new simulation training suite here in our offices in Bluebird Care Rother and Hastings by Deputy Mayor Cllr Rebecca Gilbert!

As we strive to deliver the highest standard of care to our customers, our training suite is geared to providing our staff with an extremely high standard of hands on training throughout their career.

The training suite forms a micro environment and mimics the type of situation our staff face every day as it is equipped with a key safe, hospital bed, hoist and relevant potential hazards including household furniture and rugs.

Named Bluebird Cottage, the suite is modelled on a Bluebird Care customer and the care plan is created around their life to help give that real life experience!

Registered Manager Karen explained:

The training room was an idea that I had with our Training Manager Amy late one evening after a rather long week. I must confess, I am not entirely sure how it started, but it was a small idea that kind of snowballed!

We were thinking about the training we wanted to provide and how we could improve it then went from there.

Training is generally provided in quite a clinical environment with PowerPoints or notes and this is not the same as what our staff experience in the community.

We wanted to provide the training in an environment that was a lot closer to what they will experience!

A significant amount of the items we needed were kindly supplied by St Michael's Hospice who we are proud to continue working closely with.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Emma Harmer who helped us source the items we needed and popped in on the day to collect a donation of £100 as a thank you.

Director, Sai, explained:

Our team have worked incredibly hard to get this suite ready for its launch and we are particularly excited because this is something we believe is ground-breaking certainly with domiciliary care providers local to us and quite possibly even in the UK.

The goal of the environment is to create the type of situation that our staff may come across each day and particularly help our new inductees gain confidence as they start out with us. We are proud to innovate once again!

We are only able to provide a high standard of care through the training and experience of our team and know that this environment will not only attract people to enquiry about working with us, but help further improve the support our customers receive!

I would particularly like to thank Cllr Rebecca Gilbert, Deputy Mayor of Rye who opened our suite and extend a special thank you to Emma Harmer at St Michael's Hospice who helped us to source all of the items we needed!
