Wah Akram completed a gruelling 10K assault course in aid of raising money for the British Heart Foundation. He raised over £120 for this charity who are leading the fight against coronary heart disease which is the UK’s biggest killer.

The British Heart Foundation use the donations to support their work. This work includes developing clot busting drugs, studies that prove heart disease are genetic, their research has helped them improve medicines that extend the lives of heart failure patients, research in to chest pains/angina. They have revolutionised the pacemaker, have new scan facilities that allow them to look inside the heart and helped them understand that statins help lower cholesterol for millions of people. Also over the last 30 years the British Heart Foundation have increased the survival rate of children born with heart problems from 20% who lived to their first birthday to 80%.

For the future they are needing money to research surgery techniques, investigate further in genetics and stem cell technology.
