logoRespite Care

If you look after somebody you love who can’t look after themselves alone, you’ll understand that you want with all your heart to give them the best care possible, and you may not feel comfortable in handing that care over to someone else.

Caring for a loved one is rewarding, but it can be tiring, and it is completely natural to need a mental and physical rest. Respite care can provide that and give you the break you need.

What is respite care?

Respite care is a service that provides a carefully selected, empathetic, emotionally intelligent and highly trained Care Expert to care for your loved one so that you can take a break, be it for a short period or a longer duration.

Your chosen Care Expert will take care of household chores, shopping and meal preparation, outings, everyday companionship, personal care and hygiene, overnight care and medication management.

What is caregiver burnout?

As important and precious as your loved one is to you, care giving can lead to prolonged stress and exhaustion. In worst cases, the care giver may experience depression or anxiety, and feel unable to cope. Physically, they may become worn out or poorly. Caregiver burnout is a term for caregivers who feel like they have reached this physical and mental state.

Caregiver burnout is nothing to be ashamed of, and as individuals, we can only do so much. We know that care givers try their very best to care for their loved one, but that doesn’t mean that they do not get stressed or tired. Pursuing respite care, be it long or short term care, can help alleviate caregiver burnout and restore you both physically and mentally.

Types of respite care offered by Bluebird Care

We can build respite care services around your needs. We provide short-term packages which give your loved one care whilst you are on holiday, taking care of other affairs, or away on business, for example. This shorter option allows you to take the time you need whilst knowing your loved one is in very safe, protective and capable hands.

If you need regular help on a permanent or longer-term basis, you can opt for our longer-term respite care package. Our care experts will visit daily or weekly, and will fit around your schedule - giving you the chance to rest on a regular, consistent basis. We will tailor your plan to what you and your loved one need.

Temporary respite care

We offer short-term respite care across Hambleton and Richmondshire, covering Northallerton, Thirsk and Catterick. Short term respite care is great for those not needing or seeking a permanent carer to help them, as you can acquire high-quality care for your loved one for a couple of days, a couple of weeks or a month. This is an ideal solution for those needing a restorative break from caring, or those needing to go away on business or holiday. Private respite care is also great for covering periods of illness when you cannot offer your loved one their usual care at your full capacity.

Permanent respite care

Bluebird Care provides permanent respite care services to those who are seeking long-term help and assistance in caring for a loved one. This is not anything to feel guilty about – caring for a loved one can take its toll both physically and mentally. Furthermore, life events and circumstances can also make it difficult. As well as live-in care, we can offer more flexible agreements, such as weekly or daily assistance – we will work around a schedule that suits you with your own personalised care program for you and your family or friends.
