We’re so proud to share that Mike, one of our home care assistants, was a finalist for Community Based Worker of the Year at the Proud to Care Cornwall Awards 2026, held at Tregenna Castle in St Ives.
The awards are run by Cornwall Council’s Proud to Care team and celebrate the people who work in adult social care across Cornwall. Care workers from all over the county were nominated, so reaching the final is a wonderful achievement in itself.
A lovely evening at Tregenna Castle
Rachel and Sarah were delighted to join Mike on the night. It was a lovely evening, with a delicious meal, great entertainment and the chance to meet the wonderful Sally Phillips.
Our winner, whatever the result
Mike may not have taken home the award, but that doesn’t change a thing. Every day, he brings care and kindness to the customers he visits, helping them live well in their own homes. We are so proud of him, and to us he will always be our winner.
This is the second year in a row that members of our team have reached the finals. Last year, Sherrill was a finalist for Newcomer of the Year and Vicky for Support Worker of the Year. We’re very lucky to work with such caring people.
Thank you, Mike
Well done, Mike, and thank you for everything you do. Thank you also to the Proud to Care Cornwall team for organising such a special evening, and for shining a light on the people who work in care across Cornwall.
