The conference brought together a wide range of people and organisations from across Cornwall, including social care providers, mental health professionals, emergency services, commissioners, alternative therapy specialists, people living with dementia and loved ones supporting them.
Throughout the day, attendees heard from expert speakers, took part in interactive workshops and explored demonstrations showcasing some of the services, products and support available locally for people affected by dementia.
One of the most memorable parts of the event was the dementia simulation bus. This immersive experience helped attendees gain a deeper understanding of what living with dementia may feel like. Through altered sensory experiences, it offered valuable insight into some of the daily challenges a person living with dementia may face, encouraging greater empathy, patience and understanding.
For Hannah and Rachel, the day was a valuable opportunity to continue learning, reflect on best practice and connect with others who share a commitment to improving dementia support across Cornwall. It was also lovely to catch up with colleagues from Bluebird Care North Cornwall and see familiar faces from other local providers.
At Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall, we know that dementia care is deeply personal. Every customer’s experience is different, and the right support should always be shaped around the person, their routines, their preferences and what helps them feel safe, respected and reassured at home.
Events like this help us continue to strengthen the care we provide, so customers and families feel understood, supported and never alone.
