In celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Bluebird Care Lewisham & Southwark celebrates the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!

On Wednesday 18^th May 2022, we held a small party at a local church in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In attendance were a dozen of our customers, accompanied by some of their family members and some of their carers.

The office had worked hard in preparation and put together a spread of sandwiches and cakes, teas and coffees, topped of with Union Jack bunting and a cardboard cut out of Her Majesty herself!

Classic vintage numbers were playing through a small sound system and there was a Queen-themed quiz, with a prize for the winner!

For some of our customers, this was their first major social event since being confined within their homes for much of the previous 2 years, and the opportunity to finally get our and socialise again was really appreciated, as you can tell my some of the comments we later received from family members who attended.

“Thank you very much Heather. Mum has had such a ‘locked-down’ pandemic it’s wonderful to have experiences like this. Kath was exceptional today too, mum was highly resistant (I spoke to her 3 times) and Kath’s incredible patience was pivotal to mum being able to be present. Very much appreciate all involved”

“Just a quick email to say thank you so much for sending the Jubilee party photos - everyone looks very happy, and it looks like quite a spread! Thank you to all who organised the event. Well done once again Bluebird, it was a lovely idea.”

Two gentleman even realised they were close neighbours so swapped numbers so they can continue to stay in touch, which was the “icing on the cake” of what was a wonderful day!
