Bluebird Care Leeds North is celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week 2021

Bluebird Care Leeds North is celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week 2021 which runs from 6th - 10th September.
The week focuses on the inspiring work happening in the social care sector and explores issues and challenges faced by the sector. It aims to increase public understanding of what it means to work in social care.
At Bluebird Care Leeds North we hope to also mark this week to raise awareness of the mental health and wellbeing support available to our workforce. The business is already a Mindful Employer with a qualified first aider and free telephone counselling service, the team also benefits from a well-established wellbeing fund which has been increased from £50 to £100 per year for individual employees in light of Professional Care Workers Week 2021.
Bluebird Care colleagues are encouraged to use this fund to purchase something that promotes their own wellbeing and they can claim back £100 towards this from the business. The fund has been used to purchase exercise equipment, arts and crafts, new shoes and gardening supplies amongst other items, to support individual employee’s hobbies and interests that benefit their mental and physical wellbeing.

In the UK, there are an estimated 2 million social care workers, all of whom play a vital role in society. People who choose to work in care are skilled professionals with kind and caring natures and they deserve support, recognition and appreciation. This work can be challenging and care professionals must prioritise their own wellbeing to be able to maintain the strength and resilience to support other people in their work lives. This is why we focus on ensuring our team are supported to stay well, in addition to being paid fairly and having flexible working patterns.
