There are many good reasons why we celebrate VE day, all generations have much to be grateful for. And 80 years anniversary required something extra special, so our Bluebirds rolled up their sleeves and gave up their time:
We baked cake filled with love and gratitude for what others before us have done to make our country what it is. And then with military precision, our hardy volunteers delivered them to over 70 people . The last one was delievered just after 9pm as they lit the beacon on Morecambe prom. What a day!!
We also offered to accompany our more isolated customers to community events laid on by Morecambe Town Council. Doreen W from Bowerham lives alone and was 16 when the war ended. She went to the brass band Peace Concert accompanied by our wonderful carer Cheryl. Doreen said " I had a wonderful time, it brought back so many memories. i feel so much more like a normal person when I get out and do things". Cheryl added, "I was so glad to be together with Doreen and watch her take part in this important national moment".
