Helping people in Haringey get into work

Bluebird Care were invited along to the Enterprise Centre in Tottenham last month to promote their range of job opportunities.Organised by MoneyWise, the event saw over 100 people attend, with more than 50 of them expressing an interest in becoming a care assistant.

Public invited to free dementia awareness session in Highgate

People living in Highgate now have the opportunity to find out more about dementia, thanks to a free awareness workshop.The local award winning provider of personal care in the home, Bluebird Care Haringey, has set itself the challenge of hosting Dementia Awareness Workshops in twenty-five different locations across the borough over the next 12 months.The next will be at the Highgate Newtown Community Centre on Friday 10th March, at 11am.

1.3 million older people spend two months a year alone

A OnePoll survey of 1,000 over 65-year-olds, found 11% said they spent five days or more a month without seeing anyone. In London, 16% of respondents said they had spent more than a week alone.

Bluebird Care coordinates Christmas gift-bags for ‘Christmas Day at Jacksons Lane’

Businesses and organisations across the London Borough of Haringey are being given the chance to take part in one of the area’s longest-running social welfare projects.Christmas Day at Jackson’s Lane has, for the past 40 years, provided a meeting place and warm meal for elderly and disabled people who would be alone otherwise at Christmas.Held at the popular multi-arts venue in Highgate, north London, the one-day event includes a traditional, festive Christmas meal, a varied programme of entertainment and a Christmas gift.Organised and run by volunteers, the Christmas Day extravaganza relies on the generous financial help of local businesses like Bluebird Care Haringey, who are supporting this year’s event.
