Healthcare at home from Bluebird Care in Gloucester

Healthcare at home in Gloucester, Quedgeley, Brockworth and Hucclecote

In any business, you must strive to be either the cheapest, or the best. I’ve never wanted to be described as the cheapest!

Gareth Powick, Director.

When we first started delivering home care services in Gloucester, I could see straight away that there were many challenges facing the Homecare industry, all of which led to a very poor experience for the people who count – the customers, and their families.

Nearly all of these problems were caused by corner-cutting due to under-funding. We have started from the goal of delivering the best-possible service, and in 15 years of constant improvement we have created a service which we believe is second to none.

I would never be so bold as to say we are the best home care agency in Gloucester, but below are the details of our service, to help you make an informed decision in your search for excellent healthcare at home

Our Homecare Teams

We are able to offer amazing home care in Gloucester through the tireless work of our homecare teams. We offer the best pay and conditions possible, and this allows us to recruit and retain the best staff, focusing on recruiting staff known for their empathy, work ethic and communication skills.

We use a 13 week induction program to train our staff, observing and supporting them to ensure they meet the high standards we set. After this training, each home carer will pick a specialism to study so they can further train alongside their work.

Our Team Specialisms

Each local area is covered by a small team of around 4-6 professional carers. Each carer will have a specialism they are studying, which will help bring a range of knowledge and experience to your area. Our current specialisms range from dementia care to holistic wellbeing, so here is a bit more information on each one:

Clinical Upskilling

This one-year course is delivered by NHS trainers, and is drawn from the first year of training that Nurses receive. Each carer with this specialty will have an enhanced understanding of Nutrition and Hydration needs, Falls Prevention, Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes, Recognising Deterioration and End-of-Life care as a minimum, and have a mission to ensure that all of your physical health needs are met, and that your wellness is proactively maintained.

Dementia Care

We have a Dementia Care program which is widely recognized for its excellence. Our Dementia Specialists are dedicated to ensuring that anyone experiencing memory problems continues to live a well-rounded, safe and fulfilling lifestyle. Click here for more details…

End-of-Life

Our Palliative Care specialists will be able to support you with all of your physical healthcare needs, and will have the time to talk with you about whatever you want, and to spend time with your family or friends too, if they need support or advice. They will get to know you well, and be able to recognize small changes in your well-being. For more information click here…

Holistic Wellbeing

Our Wellbeing specialists are dedicated to finding ways for our customers to get the most enjoyment out of life, especially under challenging circumstances. We can arrange one-off events through our SMILE campaign, but our real specialism is helping people find regular activities which will bring some joy into their lives. Click here to see more…

Our Customer Service

Visit Times

Because we deal with complex healthcare issues, and will never leave a customer who needs more assistance, some fluctuation in call times is inevitable. We will normally agree a target visit time with you when you first commission home help services from us, unless there are special exceptions. The service that we promise to provide is that we will not deviate by more than 30 minutes from that target time, and that you will always know in advance what the exact time we will arrive will be.

Communication

We will always make you aware of changes, and if you need to you will always be able to speak to someone straight away, from the hours of 7 am to 10pm. If you want, care notes can be shared to chosen people as they are written, enabling family members or healthcare professionals to stay informed in real-time. If you need to make any changes to your homecare, someone will be on hand to help make those changes straight away.
