Gwen's award win!

It was certainly a night to remember on Saturday for long-standing Care worker, Gwen Towell, after her deserving win at the regional Great British Care Awards 2021.

Gwen was nominated by colleagues for her commitment and hard work, and walked away as the winner of the Homecare Worker Award for the South East region. Having worked in the care industry for over 28 years, Gwen blew the judges away with her passion and dedication for the role, showing how she goes above and beyond to care for her customers. When asked what her role means to her Gwen said:

“It’s very rewarding seeing how much customers trust my care and I know when I leave, they are happy. Just keeping them company for an hour or so while taking care of them means so much to so many customers.” 

The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in Brighton, and as one of the award winners Gwen will now go through to the finals due to be held in Birmingham in March next year. Talking of her awards nomination and win, Gwen adds:

“When I was first informed of the nomination, I was very shocked, then to receive the call to say I was a finalist I was in even more shock. I am just doing my job.

“To travel to Brighton for the awards evening and then be announced as a winner, well I was lost for words! It was such a proud moment for me after 28 years of hard work and caring for so many clients. It means so much to me to win this award. I want to thank Bluebird Care for the nomination and support over the years. It’s great being part of the Bluebird team.”
