Bluebird Care NEW Devon's commitment to delivering compassionate and informed care was further strengthened recently as Boudicca Woodland, Digital Marketing Assistant, and Danielle, Senior Care Assistant from our Exmouth hub, attended a highly insightful Dementia Awareness Training session led by Gina Awad from the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance (EDAA).
Gina Awad, a well-respected advocate and award-winning dementia specialist, shared her wealth of knowledge during the session, which focused on increasing understanding of dementia, effective communication strategies, and fostering empathy for those living with the condition. The training provided valuable insights for care professionals and support teams alike.
Commenting on the experience, Boudicca said,
“It was inspiring to attend the session with Gina Awad. Her passion and expertise opened our eyes to the daily realities faced by those living with dementia. This training will help us communicate better and ensure that Bluebird Care continues delivering person-centred care.”
Danielle, a dedicated Senior Care Assistant, added,
“As Care Assistants, we always strive to improve our knowledge to support our customers better. The training offered practical advice and reinforced the importance of empathy in care.”
The Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, spearheaded by Gina Awad, has been pivotal in making Exeter a dementia-friendly city through education and community collaboration. Bluebird Care NEW Devon is committed to investing in training and initiatives that empower their teams to provide high-quality care.
Bluebird Care NEW Devon aims for all staff to become Dementia Friends, an Alzheimer's Society initiative to transform how the nation thinks, acts and talks about dementia. This additional training with EDAA reflects our commitment to adding an extra layer of knowledge, offering deeper insights into supporting and making a positive difference in the lives of those individuals and families we support living with dementia.
