Taking regular breaks throughout the year allows you to be less exhausted and run down, which is important for our customers and care assistants. Many have spent the Christmas period celebrating with family, friends, and their "Blue Angels." They have been eating wonderful food, playing board games, and laughing at the TV; however, January can be a difficult time for many.

January can be a scary month due to it being a new year, and we feel pressured to have new goals and aspirations. Energy can be low in January as last month was a busy month filled with festivities. However, we do not have to let January win. There are many ways we can make January an exciting month filled with positivity.

This January, our goal is to keep our customers happy. This is not a new year's resolution; it is something we aspire to do every single day of the year. A new year's goal can be that simple. It could be to read a chapter every day, drink a glass of water each year, or even finish that series you really want to watch! We want January to be low-pressure, with happy thoughts and minimal blues.

5 things to boost your mental wellbeing and keep the January blues away:

1) Make social connections. This would be with your next-door neighbour, family, or care assistant. Our carers can provide you with companionship if this is something you are interested in.

2) Stay active. Our carers take our clients outside for a breath of fresh air on a regular basis because something as simple as a short walk around the block can greatly improve your day.

3) Talk to someone. We are always on the other end of the phone. If you ever want to talk, we're always available.

4) Eat a brain-healthy diet. Eat some delicious food as a pick-me-up. Our care assistants can make some incredible meals for you, we can make your favourite!

5) Rest. Sleep is a very important factor in preventing the January blues. Make sure you are resting and rejuvenating at night.
