A diagnosis of dementia is life changing and as the disease progresses, things can become increasingly challenging for the person concerned as well as those who support them.
Whilst remaining at home, surrounded by everything that’s familiar and important is preferable for most of us, for those with dementia it’s crucial as the upheaval of moving can increase trauma and exacerbate symptoms. You may believe - wrongly - that your only choice is a residential care home or nursing home.

When I called initially, it was because mum wasn’t receiving good care and in fact, she kept on turning the carers away because she didn’t like them. What a difference! Eva is so patient and firm with mum and mum is so fond of her, you can see she really enjoys her company. In fact, she often takes more notice of her than she does of me. Typical!! I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I’d been on my own.
