Meet Charles Wood, one of our incredible Mental Health Support Workers here at Bluebird Care. Charles has been making a difference in people’s lives for years—supporting, encouraging, and empowering those who need it most.
In a recent interview, Charles shared his journey into care and why it means so much to him. Having supported family members from a young age and witnessed the challenges of poor mental health firsthand, he brings warmth, honesty, and dedication to every shift.
He spoke about one young customer in particular—someone he’s worked with over several years. Once anxious and unable to cope with the world around him, this young person now enjoys shopping trips, holidays, and quality time with family. That’s the power of consistent, person-centred care.
Charles’ approach is simple but powerful:
✔️ Be honest
✔️ Be present
✔️ Always follow through
✔️ Really listen
We also asked Charles how he supports his own wellbeing—turns out it involves late-night gardening, roller skating, and quality time with his daughter.
Thank you, Charles, for all you do—and for taking the time to share your insights and passion with us during Mental Health Awareness Week.
