Care and support in your local community

At Bluebird Care Barking & Dagenham, we know that feeling at home is about more than the place you live. It’s also about staying connected to your local community. Here, you’ll find helpful local information, resources and guidance to support you and the people you love to live well and stay connected in Barking & Dagenham.

Supporting You in Barking & Dagenham

Living well at home is about more than the care you receive. It’s also about staying connected to the people around you, continuing with familiar routines and feeling part of your local community.

At Bluebird Care Barking & Dagenham, we’re proud to support people across our local area to continue living life in the way they want.

Our Care Professionals support customers in their own homes and help them continue doing the everyday things that matter to them. That could mean enjoying a cup of tea and a chat, preparing a favourite meal, getting out into the local community or having someone by their side for an appointment.

Because we work locally, we understand how important familiar places, routines and connections can be.

Staying Connected to Your Local Community

Remaining independent at home doesn’t have to mean spending all of your time there.

Getting out and about, seeing familiar faces and continuing with activities you enjoy can all be an important part of everyday life.

Depending on your agreed care and support, a Care Professional may be able to accompany you when you go shopping, visit friends and family, attend social activities or spend some time outside the home.

Sometimes companionship is just as valuable at home. Having someone visit for a conversation, share stories or enjoy an activity together can bring something positive to the day.

The important thing is understanding what matters to you.

Getting Out and About

As we get older or experience changes to our health or mobility, getting out of the house can sometimes become more difficult.

You may feel less confident going somewhere alone, need a helping hand while you’re out or simply enjoy having someone with you.

Our Care Professionals can provide companionship and practical support with agreed activities outside the home, helping you continue visiting familiar places and taking part in everyday life.

Whether it’s a trip to the shops, an appointment or simply getting out for a change of scenery, having the right support can help you maintain your routines and independence.

Support With Hospital Appointments

Hospital appointments can sometimes involve more than the appointment itself. There’s the journey, finding the right department, waiting to be seen and getting home afterwards.

If you don’t have a family member or friend available to accompany you, our Hospital Appointment Companionship service may be able to help.

A Care Professional can accompany you to your appointment, stay with you while you wait and provide a friendly and reassuring presence during your visit. Depending on the arrangements agreed beforehand, they can also support you on your journey home.

For family members who can’t always attend, knowing someone is there with the person they love can bring welcome reassurance.

Looking After Your Wellbeing at Home

Small things can play an important part in helping you feel comfortable and well at home.

Our Care Professionals can provide support with everyday routines as part of your agreed care, and Bluebird Care Barking & Dagenham also offers additional services for people who may need a little extra help.

Our Blood Pressure Checks service can support people who need help taking and recording blood pressure readings at home. We also offer Nail Cutting & Trimming for people who find looking after their own nails more difficult.

These services can be particularly helpful if reduced mobility, recovery from illness or other changes make travelling elsewhere for support more difficult.

Supporting Families in Our Community

When someone you love begins to need more support, knowing where to turn can sometimes feel difficult.

You may live nearby and provide regular help, or you may live further away and want reassurance that someone is there when you can’t be.

At Bluebird Care Barking & Dagenham, we work with customers and their families to understand what support is needed and what matters most to the person receiving care.

From occasional visits and companionship to more regular Home Care or Live-in Care, we’ll talk through the available options and help you understand what may work best for your circumstances.

Living Well With Dementia at Home

Familiarity can mean a great deal to someone living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Being surrounded by familiar belongings, photographs, routines and memories can help home continue to feel like home.

Our Care Professionals support people living with dementia in their own surroundings, taking the time to understand their routines, preferences and interests.

Support might include help with everyday activities, meals, personal care or companionship, while encouraging the person to continue doing the things they can for themselves.

We also understand how much dementia can affect families, so we’re there to listen and provide support to the people closest to the customer too.

Helping You Continue Living at Home

Home means something different to everyone.

It might be the neighbours you’ve known for years, the chair you always sit in, your favourite local shop or simply knowing where everything is.

Our role is to help you hold on to as much of that familiarity and independence as possible.

Whether you need help with everyday routines, companionship, support getting out and about or more regular care at home, our team at Bluebird Care Barking & Dagenham is here to listen and understand what matters to you.

Because receiving a little extra support shouldn’t mean giving up the life you know. It should help you keep living it.
