BBC Radio Manchester's Mike Sweeney Show meets Bluebird Care Trafford

We're on the radio!

With National Carers’ Week making home care a hot topic across the media, BBC Radio Manchester’s Mike Sweeney Show asked to shadow our carers to find out what home care really involves.

In recent weeks the show has pulled no punches exposing care services that are below standard. We were delighted to represent the other end of the spectrum and show them what exceptional home care looks like.

Two of our seasoned carers – Eileen and Vanessa – gave a fascinating insight into the variety of their work. One customer has suffered an acquired brain injury and can no longer see or hear. After a long spell in hospital, he is now back at home with his family and Vanessa and Eileen talk movingly about their commitment to his rehabilitation and their approach to complex care. Their professionalism and compassion shine through.

A big thank you to Eileen and Vanessa. We’re extremely proud of them and of all our team who consistently deliver outstanding home care and make a daily difference to customers’ lives. We value every one of our carers and train them, reward them and look after them to a level unprecedented in the care sector.

National Carers’ Week also reminds us of the millions of unpaid and unsung carers who look after their loved ones with little or no support. For these carers, http://www.carersuk.org is an invaluable resource.
