A care worker from Bluebird Care in Stroud is making sure to stay in contact with her customers over the phone during the coronavirus lockdown.

Traci Baker has worked at Bluebird Care Stroud for almost two years.

She began her career after she cared for her terminally ill father.

This gave the inspiration to start a career in the care sector, something she had wanted to do for a long time.

Traci said: “It’s a vocation that requires meeting the emotional as well as the physical needs of each individual.

"For me, I have the best job in the world.”

Under government advice, Traci is now in self-isolation for the next 12 weeks.

However, with the help of her line manager, she has been able to stay in contact with a few of her customers with regular phone calls.

Traci even organised a quiz for some of Bluebird Care Stroud’s customers to complete in their own time to keep them entertained.

She is hoping to continue with this for the foreseeable future.

She said: “Our customers may well be out of my sight, but definitely not out of mind.

“What will I look forward to when this is all over? To give them all a great big hug."

Gareth Powick, director of bluebird care Stroud said:

“Traci is a great help to the customers she is speaking to, they have all said how grateful they are.

"We are all looking forward to Traci getting back to work when she is safe to do so, but her efforts to remain in contact with her customers is a testament to her character.”
