On Friday 29th April, Bluebird Care Mendip customer, Mark, took part in a tandem skydive thanks to the Army Parachute Association at Netheravaon to raise money for SSAFA: The Armed Forces Charity.

Mark has a keen passion for supporting The Armed Forces stemming from his father’s time spent in the Royal Air Force. Mark always dreamed of joining the Parachute Regiment of the British Army before his life was changed forever by Cerebral Palsy. This was a ‘bucket list’ activity that Mark had always hoped to one day actualise and now he's finally had the chance. Owing to Mark’s illness, it proved challenging to find a skydiving company able to accommodate his requirements but the wonderful teams at Bluebird Care Mendip and the Army Parachute Association at Netheravon were able to make it happen. Talking about his reason for selecting SSAFA as his chosen charity, Mark said “The Armed Forces are incredible. Wherever they are, whatever they’re doing, they don’t sleep, so the likes of us can.”

Mark wasn’t the only first-time skydiver that day as Bluebird Care Mendip Company Director Masen Naidoo and Compliance Manager Jenny Atkins both joined in with their own jumps, parachuting down in solidarity with Mark and his good cause.
