Rukhsana wins regional Carer of the Year!

The National Bluebird Care awards ceremony took place at London’s historic Fortnum & Mason on 14th November. Rukhsana Ali, a Care Assistant at Bluebird Care Leeds North was recognised as the top Carer in the Midlands East region.

Almost two years on from her initial training, Rukhsana has become a loyal and devoted member of our team and she regularly receives compliments from her customers and their loved ones. Rukhsana is always thoughtful in her care work and often picks flowers from her customer’s gardens and arranges them beautifully in their home so they can see them, if they are not able to get out into the garden easily. She’s a great cook for our customers and doesn’t forget about her colleagues either, cooking up delicious delights to share with her team during her own celebratory festival, Eid.

Rukhsana is aware that some of her customers are no longer able or wish to get out and about as much as they used to, so Rukhsana brings the outside in and takes videos of anywhere interesting she visits so she can show her customers when she visits them. Her customers love that they get to see interesting places through Rukhsana’s eyes and love to hear stories about the places she’s visited.  She is super reliable, knowing the impact on others if one person can’t fulfil their work commitments.  Ruksana is very special to us and our team would not be the same without her!

The Bluebird Care Awards are a celebration of the exemplary commitment shown by the dedicated teams that work at Bluebird Care, across the whole network.

This year’s panel of judges included Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England; Colin Angel, Policy and Communications Director of UK Homecare Association (UKHCA) and Sue Learner, Editor of homecare.co.uk and carehome.co.uk. The judges were given time to meet the finalists and interview them to get a sense of how they go above and beyond in their daily roles. The judges then select the worthy winners from a pool of finalists, who had been selected from a record number of applications from across the whole of the Bluebird Care franchise network.
