Meet the team
After working overseas and seeing first hand the health care that was provided, when I moved back to the UK I had a drive to work in the health care industry and ensure that people were receiving the best care possible. Prior to starting with Bluebird care I worked in the Ambulance service, so saw the industry from a bigger perspective.
I joined Bluebird Care in 2011 as the Care Coordinator and progressed through the ranks to Care Manager. This drove my passion for top quality care delivery and enabled me to see the different roles within the team. As the Director and owner of Bluebird Care Worthing, I firmly believe that what Bluebird Care stands for is exactly the type of quality care provision that I want to be associated with.
I judge myself daily by whether the service we provide would be good enough for one of my own family members. I believe that a healthy and fulfilled lifestyle does not stop at the front door and I am passionate about enriching the community as a whole. We have a fantastic team of compassionate and caring staff who are dedicated to delivering the best care and support.
As Finance Director, my role is to manage all of the business’ finances and be the point of contact for all staff and customers alike for any queries they may have. I see the financial side of any business as being fundamental to its positive operation and so like to make sure that all is in order and running efficiently and effectively. I have worked with Bluebird Care since 2016 and really love working with our lovely customers and the whole team who do such a fantastic job every day!
Having worked for corporate companies I was slightly upset to find myself redundant at the age of 50. Children had grown up and had children of their own. They didn’t need me so who did? I joined the Health and Social Care sector in 2012. My career journey started with another Bluebird Care franchise as a care assistant. Throughout the next 9 years my journey took me through various positions; care assistant, supervisor, live in carer, trainer, recruiter, deputy manager and then finally Registered Manager, culminating in the role as Registered Manager of both Bluebird Care Gosport and Bluebird Care Worthing. Why did I choose care you might ask? I wanted a change of career but I wanted a career with purpose. I was inspired to follow this path mainly due to observing care assistants care for my father-in -law. I just thought – I would like to care for people in their own homes, especially if they live alone. However as I have learnt, there is so much more to the role as a care assistant! There is a career in care! Throughout the past 9 years I have trained and studied, learnt from my peers and colleagues, laughed and cried. Every day brings new challenges but also rewards. We work as a team and we deliver an outstanding service, ensuring that our customers can remain in their own homes. My only regret – I wish that I had chosen this career many years ago!
I have always enjoyed working with people and after a volunteering trip in Africa, I returned knowing I wanted to work in the care sector. I have been working in independent living since 2016 as a support worker, coordinator and joined Bluebird Care Gosport as Customer Supervisor. I was in the role for a year and enjoyed spending my working day supporting the customers in whichever way that suited them whether it be collecting essentials for them or going over for a cuppa and a chat. With my new role as Deputy Manager, I can support the supervisors to enrich the lives of the customers within the business as well as ensuring that we are an employer of choice for the care assistants that work for us. I truly believe that a happy team is more productive and provide the best care and I look forward to keeping the morale within the team up and our mission statement followed.
I started my career at Bluebird Care in July 2014 as a care assistant, it was a part time position which I fell in love with. I have completed many training courses during this time which has widened my knowledge and given me confidence in the job I do.
I have now progressed in the company, firstly accepting the position of office administrator, which my organisational skills have helped me greatly in this role. I then moved on to the position of Support Co-ordinator, which is a more in-depth role where I could use my problem-solving skills to their full potential. I really enjoy both my roles within Bluebird Care and find that they complement each other.
After completing my NVQ Level 3, I was then given the opportunity to become the Field Care Superior - a role that I enjoyed greatly. I found that my skills and knowledge were utilised more effectively and expanded upon. I have recently accepted the position of Care Co-ordinator which I have been building and tailoring my skills and knowledge during my time with Bluebird Care in my various positions. I have completed training courses through Bluebird Care which has then enabled me to train new carers and support them through their career as well as working with current carers to refresh and expand on their knowledge.
I feel that we provide an excellent service through the dedication, hard work and professionalism of all the team members. There’s no better feeling then knowing you have changed a person life for the better and being able to help them live out their lives the way they want to.
My name is Lauren. I have worked in care since 2013, in both domiciliary and care home settings. I started off as a care assistant, gaining my NVQ level 2 and 3 in adult health and social care, and then moving up to a senior carer position and now supervisor.
I am always looking to develop my knowledge and skills and have enjoyed attending many external training workshops in a wide range of different topics. These include, dementia, continence care, understanding different medical conditions/medications and providing end of life care- which is something I am very passionate about. I enjoy being able to utilise what I have learnt and provide the best standard of care possible for the customers I care for.
I have worked at Bluebird Care Worthing for just over a year now. If I am not out and about in the community visiting customers to check on their wellbeing and ensure their care needs are being met or observing the carers to ensure they are providing the care and are confident in their work, I can be found in the office, ensuring the care plans are up to scratch and dealing with any other day to day enquiries.
When I started my career in care- I genuinely think I found my calling. It is something that I am very passionate about and I love what I do. I want to always ensure I am providing the best quality of life possible for the customers and continue to be a support for the carers. I love what I do, and I am thankful for Bluebird Care for giving me with the tools and opportunities to do the job.
