A collection of Bluebird Care offices have brought their customers, friends and families together this week to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Platinum Jubilee marks the Queen’s 70-year reign and is celebrated across the UK and Commonwealth with thousands of events and festivities.

Joining the millions of people celebrating during the long bank holiday, Care Assistants of Bluebird Care Reading, Wokingham, Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell joined up with their customers and families to host a celebration at Charvill Village Hall, in anticipation of the Queen’s Jubilee Anniversary on the 2nd June.

Bluebird Care Reading, Wokingham, Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell support their customers with premium home care services, including home visits, live-in care, companionship and complex care plans. For many of those customers, the occasion marked the first large social gathering they have attended for quite some time.

For the Bluebird Care customers aged 80 and above, the celebration was particularly poignant, for they are old enough to witness and remember the Queen’s Coronation.

One Bluebird Care customer and attendee of the event, Elsie Evans, aged 98, has fond memories of watching the Queen’s carriages go past with her friend, whilst enjoying an afternoon in Hyde Park.

Kirsty Higginson, a Care Assistant at Bluebird Care, explained: “It was so lovely to see some Care Assistants who I haven’t seen for a few years. One of my customers, who I look after on nights, loved the occasion too.

“The afternoon was such a success, and all of our customers had an amazing time. We even had customers who live with dementia attend, who have not socialised in a large group for over two years. They were up dancing, and it was just wonderful to see”.
