Charter for Employers Positive about Mental Health Bluebird Care Wiltshire North

As an employer we recognise that in the UK, people experiencing mental ill health continue to report stigma and discrimination at work. Having signed the ‘Charter for Employers Positive about Mental Health’, we are committed to creating a supportive and open culture, where colleagues feel able to talk about mental health confidently, and aspire to appropriately support the mental wellbeing of all staff.

As an employer, we have made an on-going commitment to:

  • Provide non-judgemental and proactive support to staff experiencing mental ill health.
  • Not make assumptions about a person with a mental health condition and their ability to work.
  • Be positive and enabling towards all employees and job applicants with a mental health condition.
  • Support line managers in managing mental health in the workplace.
  • Ensure we are fair in the recruitment of new staff in accordance with the Equality Act (2010).
  • Make it clear that people who have experienced mental ill health will not be discriminated against, and that disclosure of a mental health problem will enable both the employee and employer to assess and provide the right level of support or adjustment.

Meet our team of care professionals

Nigel Gough
Franchise Owner

Nigel has been a General Practitioner for over 30 years. The Practice looks after over 21000 patients in Bradford on Avon and Melksham and the surrounding towns and villages. It was rated "outstanding" by CQC. The Practice has been involved with several initiatives for elderly patients. We were the first Practice in the country to run a Leg Club in the community which has now been extended to include balance and exercise classes. This social model of care has won many awards and has been rolled out through many towns across Wiltshire and the South West. We also run a comprehensive TCOP (Transforming the Care of the Older Person) service as well as a dementia service, including the establishment of Dementia Cafes.

It was clear there was a gap in quality homecare services in the area, so he established a Bluebird Care Franchise for West and North Wiltshire. This has been running successfully since 2013 but having recently reduced his commitment in the Practice, he is now keen to develop the service further. He believes that everyone should have a choice to stay in their own home and is keen to help people achieve this and live with dignity and respect.

When not working, Nigel is a keen musician, plays golf and follows sport to keep up with his three sports-mad sons. He also enjoys travelling to experience different cultures in the world.

Lesley Gough
Franchise Owner

Lesley Gough’s background is in nursing. Following registration she worked as a District Sister, a Health Visitor and as a Macmillan Nurse at Dorothy House, our local Hospice.

She also has experience running a small business and understands the commitment that will be involved providing a home care service to the local community.

Lesley spent several years helping to care for elderly relatives with Alzheimers. She understands the pressures that families and carers are under and is passionate about providing a high quality service enabling customers to remain at home supported by family and friends.

Lesley has lived in this area for over 30 years. She is married to a local General Practitioner and they have three sons and three  young grandchildren. She enjoys being involved in her local community and has sat as a Justice of the Peace for over 20 years.

Nell Wyatt
Franchise Owner

Nell have been a GP Partner at Bradford on Avon and Melksham Health Partnership for more than 20 years working as a Family Doctor.  Her professional interests include Diabetes, Cardiovascular illnesses and Clinical Research but she also enjoys the huge breadth of General Practice looking after people of all ages from infants to older persons with the medical complexity and health and social care challenges that advancing age can sometimes bring.

She is keen to continue to embrace the rapid advances in medicine where able and to work with her patients to identify the best health care plan for their needs.

Prior to becoming a Doctor, she trained as a Nurse and worked as a Nursing Sister in an Intensive Care Unit before leaving nursing to train as a Doctor.

Nell feels that having been both a Nurse and a Doctor has brought her unique insight to the multiple challenges of ill health whether it is physical, social or psychological including frailty of age.

Our aim is for Bluebird Wiltshire North to provide the highest standard of home care for all our customers whatever their level of need in a professional but friendly and caring manner by our excellent team.  We aim to work together to provide individualised care and/or companionship for you or your loved ones of a standard that we would want our own families and friends to receive.

When not at work Nell is a keen traveller and enjoys exploring and experiencing different cultures (and cuisines!) in far flung places. She loves the outdoors and the sea and have recently returned from participating as Crew Member and Doctor in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race on a 70 foot Racing yacht.  Having successfully completed the circumnavigation she has washed the salt out of her hair and exchanged her oilskins for a stethoscope to resume her role as GP and Partner at our local GP Practice.
