Bluebird Care has been involved with supporting the community within Westminster, by joining awareness and support groups. One of them has been the dementia awareness group called Hymns and Pimms, which has been held in the Mayfair parish for just under a year. The gathering is welcoming to all in a friendly and caring environment. It is an opportunity for those living with dementia or memory loss and for those who care for them to get together to sing a few selected hymns and have refreshments, nibble whilst getting to know each other.

At the beginning of the reunion, there is a table filled with pictures and items that reflect the different themes and heart-warming memories are shared with the group in a ‘show and tell’ layout. This month, the theme was based on summer and holidays, with a highlight made on the ‘summer of love’ where dresses and swimsuits were held up, alongside images of icons and a couple of pictures of the Notting Hill carnival.  Danusa, one of Bluebird Care’s staff took carnival themed savoury nibbles from Brazil, which was enjoyed with the refreshments.

Bluebird care has been part of the group since Autumn 2014, and has been supporting this outreach to the local community in the hopes of raising awareness and supporting those who need care and support at home, either for themselves or for the family of those who need and extra helping hand.
