We headed to Exeter's Princesshay to #talkcare -  chatting to wrapped up, winter shoppers and finding out what their cares and concerns are about growing older in Devon.

As part of our #TalkCare campaign, we aim to get the conversation about care on the local agenda, as well as kick-started around the kitchen tables of families in Devon.

We spent the morning at Princesshay Shopping Centre, getting to know some lovely members of our Exeter community. We learnt about their views on ageing, their perception of what care means and some of the concerns they have about growing older in Devon.

Our previous Exeter Co-ordinator, Sophia Rolfe, even stopped by to share her thoughts on the issue - proving that you're always a #DevonBluebird at heart.

Lyn, a former Social Worker living in Exeter, wanted to know about the general availability of services in Devon to help support loved ones as they grow older.

"When searching for a care provider for my mum one afternoon a week, I struggled to find a local provider who had the capacity to deliver. What do you do when there is no availability? What options are out there and how can we find the right ones for our families?"

Heather was particularly concerned about the transition from care at home for elderly loved ones to finding the right support once their care needs become more complex and demanding in later life.

"My mother-in-law is 97 now, and needs ongoing and continuous care and support at this stage in her life. We really struggled to find the right support for her and she is now in a residential care home. I am concerned about the recent closure of local community hospitals and the gaps in support they have left."

Tomorrow, our panel of health and care experts will be joinung us at Exeter's Cosy Club to #TalkCare and answerDevon's Top 10 Questions. Find out here who will be sitting on our 2017 expert. We look forward to sharing their expert insight and advice with you all soon.
