Dementia Care You Can Trust
Living with dementia is challenging not only for the person affected but also for those that support them. We can help with all aspects of day to day living and the physical and cognitive changes that take place as the condition progresses.
We work closely with everyone involved, maintaining independence for as long as possible. Our respite care offers the opportunity for that much needed step away – be it for a short time or a longer period – with the security that comes with knowing that we have simply taken over where you left off.
We adopt a holistic approach to providing dementia services: continually improving the knowledge and skills within our organisation, working closely with healthcare professionals and experts in the field and working with the local community to improve facilities for, and understanding of, people affected by dementia across the borough. We have a dedicated dementia champion, trained and qualified to lead dementia training and provision for the organisation.
All of our care assistants receive dementia awareness and sensitivity training as part of the induction for newcomers and we follow this up with regular refresher training. We also encourage further study and training to national standards.
I know my dad is safe with Bluebird when I am unable to come…his face lights up and changes when he sees Sandra, my dad becomes a different person and I’m so glad they get on so well. Thank you
Flexible and responsive, we are always willing to try new approaches and services to enhance and improve the care that we provide. We work with local groups to encourage activity in the community where it’s appropriate: we’re aware that many people living with dementia prefer to stay at home in comfortable surroundings and we work with them to keep them active and engaged where they feel safe.
Can I just let you know whilst writing that two of dad’s visitors have commented to me just how well they think Ester looks after him. They say she was brilliant with him and really cares for him. You don’t know how lovely that is to hear and how reassuring it is for me to know that Ester is with him. That’s exactly the kind of care I was hoping for when we came to Bluebird. Thank you.
Our services range from general help with day to day tasks and support with stimulating activities and exercise through to supporting people with complex conditions.
When I called initially, it was because mum wasn’t receiving good care and in fact, she kept on turning the carers away because she didn’t like them. What a difference! Eva is so patient and firm with mum and mum is so fond of her, you can see she really enjoys her company. In fact, she often takes more notice of her than she does of me. Typical!! I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I’d been on my own.
