A rewarding career in home care and live-in care in Wandsworth, Putney & Battersea
At Bluebird Care Wandsworth, Putney & Battersea, we understand that being a Carer is one of the most rewarding careers in home care and live-in care. It takes compassion, dedication and a genuine commitment to supporting people to live safely and independently at home.
It’s also a career with real purpose, where you can make a genuine difference every single day while building a long-term future in care.
What it takes to be a Carer
Working in home care and live-in care is about more than completing daily tasks. It’s about patience, empathy and understanding the small things that matter most to each person. Every customer is different, so building trust and delivering care with dignity is at the heart of the role.
Great Carers bring kindness, reliability and strong communication skills, along with the ability to stay calm and supportive in different situations. Attention to detail and a willingness to go the extra mile also make a real difference in delivering high-quality care.
No previous experience is required, as full training and ongoing support are provided. In some roles, a full UK driving licence is needed to support visits across the local community.
Training and development
At Bluebird Care, every Carer receives full induction training before starting in the community, followed by ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Training includes personal care, safe moving and handling, communication skills and specialist areas such as dementia care and complex care support. As experience grows, many Carers choose to complete recognised Health and Social Care qualifications.
There are also clear opportunities to progress into senior roles such as Team Leader, Field Care Supervisor or Live-in Care Supervisor.
Why a career in care matters
Carers play a vital role in helping people remain independent in the comfort of their own homes. Whether supporting someone with daily routines or providing companionship, the work is built on human connection and trust.
It’s often the small moments that matter most, helping someone feel safe, heard and supported in their own home.
What a typical day looks like
No two days are the same in care. A Carer might support someone with morning routines, prepare meals, assist with medication prompts or provide companionship visits throughout the day.
In live-in care roles, support is more continuous, helping with daily life, routines and companionship while ensuring comfort and reassurance at home.
This variety keeps the role meaningful, while regular visits help build strong relationships with customers and their families.
