Sheila's Christmas Memory
“I’ve lived in my home for 52 years, and Christmas has always been big for my family. I wouldn’t go to sleep till about 3am, getting everything ready for the kids and cooking the food. My husband was good and helpful. Years ago there were capon chickens, which were specially bred for Christmas. They were a much larger chicken and a softer alternative to turkey — I’m talking in the 70s and 80s. We always had a full house. My parents would stay, and my Nan would be here, along with my kids and husband. We would put music on and all have a laugh. The neighbours would lend us some chairs, as there were so many of us. That’s what you did years ago, you didn’t buy it, you would lend it from your neighbours and give it back after Christmas. After dinner we would all fall asleep from being stuffed. The kids would watch the telly, some more family would come in the evening, and we would play cards, and my aunt would play the piano. By the end of the night we would be shattered, and there would be bodies everywhere, sleeping on the sofa and floors, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Christmas has always been a special time of year, and I am looking forward to being together this year.”

Putting a smile on our customers faces
Our supervisor Irene, Terri from marketing, and our carer Temi spent some time with our lovely customer, Gulsen. She was delighted to see them, and they shared a few laughs together. We popped by simply to wish Gulsen a very Merry Christmas! 🎄✨

Giving to the community
We wanted to give back to our community, and what better way than by donating non-perishable items to our local food bank, Eat or Heat. We understand that December can be a financially challenging month for many people and recognise that food banks are widely relied upon within our community.

Carer of the Month
Grace was our Carer of the Month for December! She is a long-standing member of our team and has been particularly supportive to our customers over the Christmas period, always going the extra mile to put a smile on their faces. 🎄💙
