Tansy Ridler
Registered Care Manager

I have been working in care for most of my adult life and I have never felt so rewarded. Having the ability to care for people in their own homes really helps me to go home with a smile on my face every day. Since joining Bluebird Care as a Care Coordinator back in 2019, I have progressed to becoming a Registered Care Manager. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been given and feel blessed to know that I will be supporting many more people with remaining independent in their own home! I

Heniya
Care Assistant

At Bluebird Care Waltham Forest, we pride ourselves on the exceptional, personalised support we offer to each of our customers. An example of our commitment is the care provided to a cherished customer of ours for over 18 months. Originally from India, with all of his family living there, this customer found a second home in the UK.

As the customer's health began to decline, the difficult decision was made by his next of kin in India for him to return home, ensuring he could be surrounded by loved ones during this challenging time. In preparation for his move back to India, our team offered additional care visits to ensure a smooth transition.

Heniya, the customer’s main Care Assistant, demonstrated our ethos of comprehensive care. She prepared his home for the move, cleaning from top to bottom and packing his belongings into moving boxes. Her dedication extended beyond physical preparations; understanding the emotional effect of the customer’s decision, Heniya provided invaluable emotional support. She spent countless hours listening to his concerns, offering reassurance, and ensuring the customer felt understood and comforted about his life-changing move.

The customer's appreciation for Heniya and the Bluebird Care team was profound. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the care and support provided, highlighting Heniya’s exceptional dedication. “I am so grateful to Heniya; she is very good at her job and has done so much for me. My flat is much tidier than last week as Heniya has really worked hard to keep it clean,” the customer remarked. In a touching gesture of thanks, the customer gifted Heniya and the care assistants scarves to keep them warm while working in the cold weather, a symbol of his appreciation for all the support he had received.

At Bluebird Care Waltham Forest, stories like this reinforce our commitment to delivering care that truly makes a difference in people’s lives. We are honoured to support our clients and their families through every step of their care journey, ensuring they feel valued, understood, and, above all, cared for.

Terri Gibbs
Administrator/ Support Coordinator

My name is Terri, I started my journey with Bluebird Care in February 2021 as a Care Assistant and was nervous as it was my first job in the Care Industry. I quickly fell in love with taking care of others and making them smile. I decided that I wanted to work in this industry long term and within 4 months I had been promoted to Care Supervisor and look forward to growing within Bluebird Care and gaining new skills!

Elaine V
Care Assistant

I began my working career in 1977, when there wasn’t hardly as much technology as we have today. My first job was in banking, my duties included, shorthand typing and admin and reception work, and I did all this by using a type writer as we didn’t have mobile phones and emails back then, but comradeship from all, meeting a wide variety of people, everybody worked as hard as possible. I have always had an art and loved mixing and meeting all different people!

After I did this for a few years, I had a rest while my family were growing. When I went back to work everything changed, application forms and employment bureaus disappeared everything was done online. I remember my mum saying to me, she lived alone at this point, what does www mean? Then I knew what career path I wanted to take, I didn’t want to be sat doing the same thing day after day, I wanted to do more with my life, I wanted to make a difference and support those who are alone or sick.

I joined Bluebird Care Waltham Forest in August 2018. The weather on my first day was not motivating in the slightest! It was raining and at this point I was unable to drive so I was following my shadower around in the pouring rain, I was exhausted after the first day, this really opened my eyes to how hard carers work!

Working with Bluebird Care the last four years, I have had good times and bad times. My fondest memory was visiting a lady who had previously had church connections and had dementia. It was a cold and frosty night and I sang My Grandfathers Clock to her and various Christmas Carols, she had the biggest smile on her face as she joined in  - she remembered them. To know that I have played an important part to an individuals life making them laugh and in other circumstances cry with joy, is extremely rewarding and satisfying.

I have been complimented many times by customers; especially for my cooking skills. Also, recently a gardener visited a customer while I was there and said “I’m very glad it’s you here as you always communicate with the customer and take an interest, rather than being occupied- its really nice for her.” I have had the pleasure to meet so many customers, and their families and some positive feedback really means so much to us carers.

The biggest ladder I have had to climb in this role is learning to use a mobile phone to complete the care notes and other requirements. However it does not matter where we come from as carers, we are all united and part of one team.
