Supporting Dementia Awareness Week 2017

Bluebird Care Walsall is supporting Dementia Awareness Week 2017, an annual campaign run by the Alzheimer’s Society from 14– 20 May 2017
There are around 850,000 in the UK with dementia, with over 42,000 under 65. In a very small number of people certain types of dementia can be inherited, with scientists investigating how dementia can run in the family.
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading charity for dementia, providing information and support to individuals as well as funding vital research with the hope to create lasting change for everyone affected by dementia.
This year’s theme for Dementia Awareness Week is to unite together, the Alzheimer’s Society is asking everyone across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to unite against dementia and take action. We hope to raise awareness of the condition across Walsall, improving the care received and finding a cure that is so urgently needed.
Where possible, communities are encouraged to organise their own fundraising event to unite against dementia, with more information about Dementia Awareness Week 2017 available here.
