Care Manager Wins Employee of the Year!

Bluebird Care Wakefield and Kirklees celebrate their care manager being awarded Employee of the Year at the Wakefield Business Awards!

We are so proud and excited to announce that our Care Manager, Janice Hislop, recently won the Employee of the Year award at the Wakefield Business Awards, a prestigious awards ceremony created by We Are Wakefield.

All about Janice

Janice joined Bluebird Care Wakefield and Kirklees as a Care Assistant in 2019. Initially, Janice was looking for a part-time job to fill her quiet days. However, in 2020, Janice put her name forward for our Field Care Supervisor position that had just become available. Having witnessed her dedication to the people she cared for, we knew Janice would make an excellent supervisor.

Speaking on her time as a Field Care Supervisor, Janice said:

In 2021 Janice was promoted to Care Coordinator, responsible for arranging care calls and staff rotas, which she excelled at due to her extensive knowledge of our customers and our team of dedicated carers.

Proving her love of the industry and her devotion to the people we care for, Janice is now our Care Manager - in charge of coordinating new care packages, nurturing current care packages by ensuring customers are well supported and cared for, as well as monitoring and maintaining the quality of care that we provide as an award-winning home care service.

We nominated Janice for Employee of the Year because we still can't quite believe how lucky we are to have someone as selfless and devoted on our team. We believe that Janice reminds us of what it means to work in care and support people to live independent lives in the comfort of their own homes.

But what is Employee of the Year awarded for?

The Wakefield Business Awards was created in 2022 by Claire of We Are Wakefield, where we were finalists and winners of the Employer of the Year award. This year, the ceremony was hosted by Tileyard North, with an even bigger audience and over ten categories.

Employee of the Year was awarded to the person who contributed greatly towards the ambitions of their company. This category specified that the winner must be someone irreplaceable by highlighting how they have made an impact on their business.

Where many of the award categories related to the businesses themselves, including growth and success, Employee of the Year placed focus on quality, personal sacrifice and passion, so you can see why we are beyond proud that Janice was not only shortlisted for this award, but won it!
