Our platinum jubilee celebrations continued into the bank holiday weekend as we visited some of our customers.
At Bluebird Care Wakefield & Kirklees, we have had lots of fun celebrating HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Not only did we h
ost a delicious afternoon tea (click here to read all about it!), but we also selected a few of our long-term customers that we thought might want some company during the bank holiday, and we paid them each a visit. A bunch of lovely flowers were taken to each customer to brighten up their day.
Whilst we were there, we took this opportunity to ask our customers what memories they had of our wonderful Queen. Some recalled her glorious coronation:
I remember it was a full day weather wise, and we watched the coronation on a friend's black and white TV. I remember the Queen of Tonga in one of the carriages. The whole street was decorated with bunting and Union Jack flags.
While one lovely lady told us all about her experience with a previous jubilee:
I remember it as there were only two houses on the street that had a TV, so half of the street watched it on a 12inch black and white TV at Mrs Schofield's.
And another of our customers recalled HM The Queen's wedding:
I was working during the jubilee, but I remember The Queen getting married because I thought it was so exciting.
